Our personal traveling plan:

From CANCUN – Mexico

A new ADO bus (night bus) is running from CANCUN to BELIZE living at 10:15 PM from Cancun (arriving at 6:00 AM in Corozal).

Stop at Corozal to visit (and stay at the Sea Breeze Hotel) or take the water taxi (Thunderbolt) to Sarteneja at 7:00 AM at the pier.

Arriving from Mexico, Chetumal :

Take a cab to Belize border ( 70 PESOS) at ADO Chetumal bus terminal or

a collectivo going to the zona libre (border)  passing behind the museum of the maya culture in Chetumal.

Spend a night or two in Corozal, our best recommendation THE SEA BREEZE HOTEL ,
the cheapest, cleanest hotel, bay front, 2 minutes walk from the pier where you catch the Thunderboat to go to Sarteneja at 7.oo am.

Send us an email two days before if you want a horse buggy transportation from Sarteneja pier to Backpackers Paradise.

Walking is only 15 minutes.

How to come by bus ?

from:

- CHETUMAL, Mexico : bus direct to Sarteneja everyday at 12.00 pm leaving from the mercado nuevo (new market) in Chetumal. $12 BZ

-Belize City: buses to Sarteneja are light blue and their “terminal” is next to the swinging bridge, next to the water taxi terminal. Leave at 10.30 am 12 am, 4 pm, and 5 pm. Monday to Saturday. It will cost you $12 BZ to Sarteneja.

- Orange Walk: the bus stop is at the bridge facing the Police station. Leaves at 12 pm, 1h40 pm, 5 pm and 6 pm, Monday to Saturday. $ 6 BZ to reach Sarteneja.

- Corozal : take a bus to Orange walk and see schedule above or the green bus to Chunox leaving at 11 am next to Corozal post office.
This green bus stop to Chunox. Here wait for the blue bus going to Sarteneja around 1 pm.

 

But you better take the thunderbolt from Corozal, you will save two hours !! Call 610 44 75 to have confirmation.

Important : in the bus ask the driver to let you out at the “Welcome to Sarteneja” sign, also called “el monumento”. From here follow our sign, its 2 minutes walk !

Come by boat from Corozal with the Thunderbolt:

-departure at 7h00 AM from the Corozal pier’s to go to San Pedro, stop at Sarteneja on request, $ 25 BZ

-From San Pedro pier (Ambergris’caye), departure at 3h00 PM, BZ$ 45, stop at Sarteneja on request

Important : from Sarteneja pier, Backpackers Paradise is 15 minutes walk, check our map for direction. Taxi service can be arrange if you e mail us few days before
